O'DONNELL LEE and MARDEN DUBORD

Full Press Release

Waterville, Maine - O'Donnell Lee, P.A. and Marden, Dubord, Bernier & Stevens, PA LLC, two well-known law firms based in Waterville, Maine - are pleased to announce their merger, effective July 1, 2024. This strategic union brings together two prominent firms to better serve the legal needs of central Maine into the future.

"This merger represents an exciting chapter in the histories of both O'Donnell Lee and Marden Dubord," said Michael Phillips, Partner at O'Donnell Lee. "By joining forces, we are enhancing our ability to better serve our clients and community in today's dynamic legal landscape."

While Marden Dubord was formed in 1964, its roots extend back into the first decades of the 1900s.  The attorneys who have worked for Marden Dubord have demonstrated a commitment to central Maine and the State through involvement in various governmental and civic positions including judicial appointments to the District, Superior, and Maine Supreme Courts, elected positions to both Houses of the Maine Legislature and as Mayors of Waterville, and numerous charitable directorships.

O'Donnell Lee was formed in 1996 by Bill Lee and Tim O'Donnell - both having been active legal practitioners in Central Maine for many years prior to their joinder with the goal of creating a firm that delivered excellent legal services while maintaining a friendly firm culture.  Its attorneys have held elected positions in the City of Waterville and have served many civic organizations throughout Central Maine.

The combined firm will operate under the name O'Donnell Lee Marden Dubord, with offices at 325-E Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville.  "I'm pleased with this opportunity to continue and grow my provision of affordable estate planning and elder law services at this convenient and accessible KMD location," remarked David Bernier, a Partner at Marden Dubord, of the new location.

Clients can expect the same personalized attention, dedication to excellence, and unwavering commitment to their legal needs.  "We are thrilled to embark on this new journey together," said Robert Marden, Partner at Marden Dubord. "Our shared values, collective expertise, and resources will enable us to provide comprehensive legal solutions for our clients across Maine, now and into the future."

The merger is the result of extensive collaboration, careful planning, and mutual respect between the leadership teams of both firms.  O'Donnell Lee Marden Dubord looks forward to building on the strong legacies of both firms and continuing to serve as trusted advisors to clients across Maine and beyond.  A general practice law firm, O'Donnell Lee Marden Dubord provides advice and representation in the fields of estate planning, elder law, residential and commercial real estate law, corporate and commercial law, municipal law, family law, and general litigation.

"I am looking forward to practicing with attorneys that I have always enjoyed working with, and even against, as members of separate firms.  To have them as colleagues is wonderful," added Tom McCowan, a Partner at O'Donnell Lee. "Our priority is to maintain the high level of service and integrity that clients of both firms have come to expect."

At this firm, Attorney David Bernier intends to continue working in the primary areas of elder law, estate planning & probate, and social security disability.  Attorneys Bill Dubord and Bob Marden plan to serve in an 'of counsel' capacity and assist with the transitioning of clients to this firm.  Attorney Dan Marra will be establishing his own firm in the Waterville area where he will continue to devote his exclusive attention to family law matters.
